Dust on the Venus surface.
Abstract
The presence of free dust on the surface of Venus is inferred from radiative flux measurements by the Venera 9 and 10 landers. A mean thickness of 0.01 to 0.1 mm is estimated for the dust layer, along with a surface density of 0.01 to 0.1 kg/sq m. The transport time of the dust cloud above the landers is shown to correspond to a wind speed of 0.5 to 1 m/s.
