Des Sol 4x4 Adventure Hardware
Our Suzuki Jimny SUVs have been fitted with tough off-road accessories, built by the acclaimed 4x4 equipment specialist Des Sol. Each of our Jimny 4x4s has a safari-style roof-rack; a raised air intake (snorkel); differential breathers; front and rear diff guards; rock-sliders; and radial-cup protectors. As well as looking great, these additions significantly reduce the chances of damage to the car when driven off-road.
ALLGRIP PRO 4x4
Our Suzuki Jimnys are 2024 models, with Suzuki's ALLGRIP PRO part-time 4x4 system. A transfer case between the driveshafts connects the front and rear differentials, allowing you to move between 2WD and 4WD as required. When in 4x4, the front and rear wheels are directly connected, making it possible to distrubute power to all four wheels without loss. This is a simple and extremely effective 4x4 system, and easy to understand even for people with little experience of off-road driving.

We can accept Visa and Mastercard payments via our Protected Trust Services account for sums greater than โฌ500, $500 and ยฃ500. Unfortunately we do not accept American Express.
Transfer
If you live in the EU, you can transfer payment to our UK HSBC bank account for the princely sum of 25 cents. If you live in the UK, the transfer is totally free. Unfortunately for other countries the fees will depend on your bank's policies.
Payment Terms
A large car rental agency such as Hertz might have 1,000 vehicles in Albania. If you cancel at the last moment, they won't notice. We have just four new Suzuki Jimny 4x4s, so if you cancel a booking at the last minute we do notice! This being the case, we will not block a Jimny for you without receiving a deposit payment of 30% of the rental cost. The balance is to be paid no later than seven working days before the rental period start date.
โฌ300 Damage Deposit
We offer our Suzuki Jimny SUVs only with full CASCO insurance, so you are covered in the event of an accident. However, even the best insurance policy won't cover damage to the underside of a 4x4, or to the tyre sidewalls, or a flooded engine, which can really only be caused by negligent driving. So we retain a cash damage deposit of โฌ300 to keep you focused on the road... As for scratches and stone chips - small scratches to the paint are part of off-road driving, so our Suzuki Jimny 4x4s come pre-scratched, and stone chips can happen to anyone.
Fuel Policy
We always hand over our Suzuki Jimny SUVs with a full tank of fuel, and expect you to return them to us full. And we ask you to please only fill the SUVs in towns and cities, not villages, as the quality of fuel in Albania is deplorable. If you're travelling outside Albania, we recommend you cross the border close to empty and fill once you're abroad, and fill again before crossing back into Albania. The fuel is cheaper and better quality in Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Greece!
Hidden Fees & Car Substitutions
We hear lots of horror stories from tourists who have been hit with extra fees when hiring an SUV in Albania, or who have turned up expecting a particular model of 4x4 and have been given something totally different. Please don't worry - you won't have any hidden fees with us, and the only SUVs we rent out are new Suzuki Jimny 4x4s. If we are unable to provide a Jimny SUV due to unforseen circumstances, we will refund your money in full and do our best to help you find another reliable 4x4 car for your trip.

Roof tents
Please note, we do not provide roof tents. The Suzuki Jimny is a very small, narrow and light car, with a high centre of gravity, and a maximum dynamic load limit of 30kg. Fitting a roof tent is ill-advised and potentially dangerous - the Jimny's stability will be severely impaired. Also, in the event of an accident you will be in an unfortunate position regarding insurance, as the car's maximum load limit will have been exceeded by quite some margin (obviously voiding any cover). We are happy to provide ground tents, however.
