About Icecast 2

Icecast is a streaming media (audio/video) server which currently supports Ogg (Vorbis and Theora), Opus, WebM and MP3 streams.
It can be used to create an Internet radio station or a privately running jukebox and many things in between. It is very versatile in that new formats can be added relatively easily and supports open standards for communication and interaction.

Icecast is distributed under the GNU GPL, version 2.

End of support for Icecast 2.4.4

With the release of Icecast 2.5.0 the era of 2.4.x is slowly fading.

Today we would like announce that the last support for Icecast 2.4.4 will end on 2026-12-31, a bit more than eight years after its release. As of this writing only security fixes are accepted.

Icecast 2.5.x will continue to read Icecast 2.4.x configuration files, so upgrades should be seamless. Our new series of Icecast also provides useful hints to ease any upgrade. Naturally we suggest to consider them.
