Hello ladies (and gentlemen)! So I know some of you have hit the 1 year mark by now so let's get some updates! Any babies on the way? Houses bought? Inquiring minds want to know!

As for us, we just hit 10 months. We adopted a black lab mix and named him Charlie, he's nuts. No babies on the way. We're far from that! I'm still in school but my Photography (what I'm in school for) has come a long way since last year, in fact I did my first wedding last week! Hubbs is still at his job and writing books. He has one for sale on Amazon if you're interested but I'm not going to shove it in your face.

Well, that's about it for us. We're going on a little vacation to Long Beach Island tomorrow. Yay!

OK, I know we've all gotten married and moved on from this community, but I FINALLY got my last set of wedding photos back!

For those of you with tattoos who didn't want them all up in your wedding pictures, what did you use to cover them up? What methods did you have, and if you tried multiple techniques, which was most effective for concealing your ink? If they brushed up against your dress, what was your experience with the makeup rubbing off onto it? How dark are your tattoos, and how much was visible?

BONUS POINTS if you show me before/after shots of covered-up tattoos :)

Why am I asking, you say? I have a smaller than 3x5 black tattoo on my leg and decided I wanted to wear a knee-to-tea length dress for my wedding, but I don't want my tattoo exposed in my pictures.

Sorry it's taken me almost a month to come back and talk about the wedding!

It feels so surreal!

The Best Man is here from Vegas already.
My father arrives on Wednesday.
Everything is ready (except that my mother forgot to take my dress into the cleaners to get all the wrinkles out from being in storage for months! Here's hoping she remembers to do so tomorrow and they can get it done this week!! O.O)

There are a few things I'm not going to finish, it's just too much now. I'm happy with what we have already done.
I guess I've wowed everyone with how organized I am and how calmly I've handled each problem as it's arisen.
(My make-up artist and driver both backed out a week ago. With the help of friends they were replaced within 24hrs!)

We're renting a party bus to do a pub crawl for our combined bachelor/ette party this Friday. Our photographers will be there to record all of it! It's been so cold and snowy in Colorado lately, we wanted everyone to be able to get from place to place without freezing to death!

Saturday is the rehearsal, the luncheon, spa time with my gals and relaxing at the hotel. Hopefully in the indoor hot tub with a glass of champagne!

Next Sunday is the big day!!
I was reflecting today on how different this feels compared to the times I was engaged in my early 20s.
There was none of this sense of awe and amazement, no overwhelming feelings of surreality and romantic magic, back then.
I'm so glad I waited until now to get married in my life.

I feel like I'm in a haze. Anyone else?

Oh man, one month from Wednesday and I'll be getting married!! After 3 1/2 years of waiting and dating, I can't believe it's come so quickly!!
I have plenty of things done and plenty to do, but I'm graduating 2 weeks from yesterday, so I have neither the time nor the patience to list it all out. Haha.
I do, however, have a question...
For those of you who are/did change your name, did you buy a Name Change Kit? To be perfectly honest, it seems like a waste of $20 to me, however, I'm also slightly tempted. I love being very organized and I'm wondering if there is anything in that kit that I would forget on my own. Is it worth it, if you got one?

I have been looking for something to keep me warm in my winter wedding, and have had rotten luck. But look what I just bought:

I'm having the "will I get it all done?" jitters with insomnia.

I think I'm close to the end of my list and someone reminds me of something I forgot.
We're both nervous but I think we're ready for the day to just get here so we can stop spending money, time and energy on it.

I think the fact that I've been very ill for the last year and the medicine/extreme diet I'm now on saps my energy, makes everything seem so much harder right now. At least I know ahead of time that he really will stick with me through sickness and health. (The plus side of this is that I'm dropping weight quickly, though, here's hoping I don't lose too much before the day of and end up making my dress too big for me!)

Unfortunately I didn't realize how crappy of a job my make up girl did on covering my tattoo until I saw these. Oh well. That's what Photoshop is for.

We're married!

All I wanted was for everything that was going to go wrong to go wrong before the wedding, so that everything would go well for the wedding itself. And it did. By the time the wedding started, everything was pretty under control.

We had to scrap the whole seating chart because all the tables wouldn't fit in the room. We both forgot our love letters in the rooms we got ready in, and therefore had to improvise at the altar. One of the groomsmen couldn't show up because he went to the hospital with a heart problem. We didn't have any beer because someone forgot a tap. My matron of honor dropped the ring when she went to hand it to me. I know that sounds like a lot went wrong, but really, it was wonderful.

We heard over and over and over again how wonderful it was. How much everything was perfect. That it was the best wedding people had ever been to.

I, for one, had a great time. And aside from one fantastically bad nervous breakdown about halfway through the reception (which, seriously, I think was just from exhaustion), it was definitely the best wedding I've ever been to. And I'm not just saying that because I planned the whole thing and got to be the bride. Everything went just really really well. I think I would have enjoyed it just as much (if not a little more because, wow, way less stress) if I hadn't.

We're on our honeymoon. In a hotel. Eating room service and drinking champagne. Life is beautiful.

Now that we finally have a computer desk I am ready to write a detailed wedding day post. It's very long, you've been warned

ETA: I talked to my brothers later. They decided not to come because one of them was sick and didn't want to get my Grandparents sick. Just wish they had told me that BEFORE the wedding and not after.

Have any of you used a laptop or a netbook or ipod for your reception music instead of a DJ? How did it work out? Do you have any advice about it?

My husband and I were married at Mount Vernon (in Virginia) on May 2, 2009. We just celebrated 6 months of wedded bliss. It took me forever to get around to uploading pictures to LJ because we had over 1500 to go through, and then had to order prints, and our album (which is gorgeous), and photobooks for the parents, etc., etc. And get to the business of being married. But here they are, finally!
