wow, i haven't posted in a LONG time, mainly due to starting college and lack of creativity. jester's post reminded me that this community needs some fresh winter air, so here's a little poem i wrote yesterday.
Ode to the Window Shade
Crosshatch rice weave filters These hushed evenings of luminous periwinkle, Shining through the punched string holes Like adorning sequins, Their halos delicate and translucent. The flexible structure of the blinds Glows with the reflection of my skin As I stroke its protruding ribs of starch And the sequins dance and darken, Lavender to cerulean to indigo to black, The silhouettes of concealed rooftops Biopsied for a fleeting moment. Through the naked window adjacent, My eager eyes drink in the Regal mysteries of the dark night And sense the hovering of Atlantis.
