From the Preface
If you are a web designer or document author interested in sophisticated page styling, improved accessibility, and saving time and effort, this book is for you. All you really need to know before starting the book is HTML 4.0. The better you know HTML, the better prepared youโll be, but it is not a requirement. You will need to know very little else to follow this book.
This fifth edition of the book was finished at the end of 2022 and does its best to reflect the state of CSS at that time. Anything covered in detail either had wide browser support at the time of writing or was known to be coming soon after publication. CSS features that were still being developed or were known to have support dropping soon are not covered here.
Estelle Weyl read the specifications so you don't have to.
Eric A. Meyer starting working on the web in late 1993. A past member of the CSS Working Group, he is the author of several acclaimed CSS books as well as many articles on CSS and web standards. More recently, he co-founded the conference series An Event Apart with Jeffrey Zeldman and speaks about web standards all over the world. In recognition of his work, he was inducted into the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences in 2006.
A longtime resident of Cleveland, Ohioโwhich is a much nicer city than you've been led to believeโEric used to be a weekly radio presence on WRUW 91.1-FM with a show covering the Big Band era. He now spends most of his free time reading, searching out great dishes, and playing with his wife and daughters.
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we donโt use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Learn more how customers reviews work on AmazonThis is a massive tome that I use as a reference for my relatively basic use of CSS. Definitely not to be used as a tutorial! But everything I can imagine having to look up seems to be here.
The book is full of useful content, that's why is big. Nevertheless, it arrived with a damaged 'corner'. I would like Amazon to take more seriously the way they package their products.

I liked the Author's style. Would have liked natural Colors to be present in some of the Figures, but you can't have everything. Very detailed and exhaustive. Has a pretty good Index. Using it for a review plus an update of the latest CSS Functionality. I haven't taken a course on CSS in a few years, so I really liked the new features that it covers. Still reading it as of Aug. 12,2024. Only one-third through the Book so far.
When I received the book I was excited to dive in. To my surprise, however as soon as I turned the first page I quickly discovered the entire book was about programming in Perl. Sending the book back and praying I get the correct one.
If you want to understand web-page styling (CSS) in depth with numerous examples and detailed explanation, this is it.
Unfortunately, the book (which is paperback and 1000+ pages, e.g. quite 'brittle') arrived in a - much bigger than the book -simple paperbox without any padding (pun not intended) and was damaged at the corner, which could have been prevented so easily (as it was years back). It's a shame that Amazon's delivery quality has so much deteriorated over time.
Trรจs bonne ressource pour le CSS
This is a pretty awesome book, but it's big and fragile and Amazon obviously doesn't look after them well. Mine looked like it had been dropped on the floor, with the corners bent and marks on the cover, spine and edges.
OK, this is pretty superficial, but Amazon needs to take better care of items like this. Had it been intended as a gift, well, I would have had to send it back.
But it's for me, and I can live with it (and by the time I've thumbed through it enough times, well, it's going to look worn).
So, great book, everything I was looking for, but didn't arrive in great condition. And that's a shame.
Bin sehr enttรคuscht.
