The History of the American Working Class

A 1927 (fourth printing/third edition 1936) International Publishers work. Scanned by Ismail, sent to him by Sean the Red. https://www.intpubnyc.com/
Despite the author's 1936 preface ("Further revisions, including an elaboration of the points treated in the book, as well as new material, are now in progress and will be included in a later edition"), no later editions were published.
A critical review of the book was published in Pravda (and translated into English in the Communist Party of America's Daily Worker of October 15, 1930.) Among its criticisms was that, "Pointing out quite correctly the bourgeois character of both [the American Revolution and Civil War], A. Bimba at the same time falls into undialectical one-sidedness and almost entirely refutes the progressiveness of these movements and the interest of the masses of people in their victory." The review concluded that the book was "simply a compilation, overloaded with quotations, and poorly finished from a literary viewpoint."
In subsequent years members of the CPUSA would devote greater attention to the study of American history, many works of which can be found here: http://eregime.org/index.php?showtopic=17670
