"Awful!" - that was the first reaction of the people who visited the presentation when they saw "The Ukrainian Potential"

The sculptor stressed that he was inspired to create this work by his recent travelling around Ukraine. "I was shocked of what I saw: ruins, poverty, a total decay. However on TV the politicians tell us that everything is fine and will be even better. But Ukraine is different. Now you will see the way it looks."

Mykola Shmatko and his sculpture titled "Among Emperors"

LUHANSK, Ukraine -- A sculptor in the eastern Ukrainian city of Luhansk has unveiled a bronze bust of President Viktor Yanukovych titled "," RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service reports.

Mykola Shmatko told journalists at the presentation on August 3 that he decided on the title because he sees Yanukovych as one in a series of personalities that includes Roman Emperor Caligula and Alexander the Great.

The original was painted in acrylic on a wood panel cabinet I hand-made for the purpose of doing this painting. I'll be finishing up the cabinet when I return home.. I can't tell you what I'll be filling the cabinet with - but when the construct is done, I will have had a lot of fun making things to fill it with.

Though the cabinet is not done, the painting part of it is, and it was lovingly, carefully scanned for truest color and detail, and printed as a giclee for the best, most highly-detailed and most brilliant reproduction quality (if you want to know about that stuff go HERE)

Unobtrusive white cards are printed with single words, phrases, thoughts and other lovely things and distributed throughout the world by you. Cards can be left on the bus, tucked into a book at your local store, left on the table at a coffeehouse, handed directly to the recipient, hidden somewhere, slipped in with a gift or a letter or kept in your sock drawer for the next 85 years.

The idea is to inspire thought, a laugh, a conversation, collaboration and a sense of discovery.

Not too sure on where to start, so this may be kind of random lol. I'm 21 and enjoy reading, writing, spinning poi, listening to music, photography, dance, raving, cosplay, modeling, designing, art in general, etc. I'm currently working on making a portfolio for photography; making cosplay outfits; and also trying to commission raver phat pants as a side hobby. Here's mine that I made as an example:

👁 Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" and a new sculpture group "Christ's Appearance to the Apostles".

Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" and a new sculpture group "Christ's Appearance to the Apostles". It has taken 15 years for him to create the project with the Twelve Apostles.

In his sculptures Nicolai Shmatko decided to deviate from the Bible apostles known to us. "In this sculpture there are our contemporaries, people who live near us. Only Jesus Christ is an imaginary person as nobody can pretend to be like him. We can also see Peter, his favourite disciple, doubting Thomas and Judas. Among the known Bible persons I have embodied myself and my sons"- Nicolai Shmatko retells.

 The preliminary cost of this sculpture is 1.5 mln. Euro.

The other sculpture of the Nicolai Shmatko "Ukrainian Aurora" has taken him half a year. He retells about it, "Aurora is a morning star which lights up the road of travelers and wayfarers. I decided to accent attention on this and tried to find a woman who can personify national pathos but I could not for a long time. And finally I found national Ukrainian colouring in Julia Timoshenko, Prime Minister of Ukraine".

The sculptor noted that he is a non-party man and has not any political sympathies to Julia Timoshenko but her image helped him to create our contemporary Aurora.
