Zwei Dachdecker reißen das alte Strohdach eines Hauses ab, um es mit Reet (Phragmites communis) neu zu decken. Arbeitsablauf: Aufbau des Gerüsts, Abreißen der alten Bedachung, Zurechtschneiden der Reetbunde, Auftragen und Befestigen des Reets am Dachgerüst, Abdecken des Dachfirsts mit ausgestochenen Heidekrautsoden, Glattschneiden und -klopfen der neu gedeckten Stellen, Abbau des Gerüsts.

After a short depiction of the landscape the film shows the various processes of reed roof thatching: erection of the scaffolding, removing the damaged roof, cutting the bundles of reeds, laying and fastening the reed to the roof structure, covering the ridge with pieces of turf, smoothing and beating the newly covered places, dismantling the scaffold.
