User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:108.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/108.0

Steps to reproduce:

For context I am a big user of private browsing for anything, and always found it sad that firefox only displayed "firefox is playing media" in my desktop media interface

Today, for the first time in forever I opened youtube in a non-private browsing tab by mistake and discovered that the video informations were correct

I understood that it is a private browsing privacy but I wanted to know if there was a way to enable these metadata to be sent even in private browsing ?

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Audio/Video: Playback' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Facing the same issue (Arch Linux, FF 150.0.1)

Yes, we can add a pref for that. Just add a pref here. I can mentor this if anyone wanna give it a try.

Yeah, cloned the repo and found that method already... How about media.mpris.privatebrowsing.metadata.enabled as the pref name?

We can use media.privatebrowsing.metadata.enabled so that feature can work on all platforms.

needinfo??

Hello, could you check this to setup patch properly? Now it gets an error on our landing system so you would need to follow this instruction and upload your change again. Thanks!

My trailers hook kept rewriting Differential Revision: https://phabricator.services.mozilla.com/D<changes> to Differential Revision: Revision: https://phabricator.services.mozilla.com/D299541, which broke moz-phab... my bad... fixed by adding

[trailer "Differential"]
	key = "Differential "

to .git/config
