So after the summer, I have now worked on several major events as a Pyrotechnician, including 40th Anniversary of the Gibsons Sea Cavalcade, the 2nd Night of the 2010 Winter Olympic Torchrun, the closing Ceremonies for the 2010 Paralympics, the 2011 Calgary Stampede and the 2012 Calgary Stampede 100th Anniversary Light up the City Campaign. What can I say I like to blow things up, now I am looking at a few other things to do with Pyrotechnics including a Course down in Texas on Movie Pyrotechnics, possibly getting my blasting ticket(s) as well. I now have to decide to upgrade my own Fireworks card as it expires this year, and I need to supervise one more show to be qualified to be able to get the endorsements for Fireworks. Love the pretty lights. |
Hello Folks, I know it's been some time since I posted here, as of late my main focus has been on my Event Planning business that I have set up and started on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia and the headaches I am running into with that. My first Event is an Independent Wrestling Event in the community of Powell River (www.aswcanada.com) as I originally tried to get this as a two show weekend with Powell River and the town I live in of Gibsons, but Gibsons has been all but helpful in having a new event come to town. Well that's not true parts of Gibsons have been all but helpful other parts are working at it, and I will be writing a helpful guide for the Alternate Venue I am trying to work with, but that will require some changes in Town Council's policies and rights. Who would have figured trying to get a one day Zoning excemption would be such a headache. But now on to Powell River, the Recreation Center, is a place I want to move and keep, two Hockey arenas one with 1500 bleacher seats (guess which one I am taking) a 725 seat theatre and many many different function rooms. I love the place for its versatility. I have been approached by the new start-up league of Roller Derby girls to kind of entertain during the intermission to let the folks know they are in the town and do some recruiting, a former 10 yr veteran of the ring recently moved to Powell River and will be looking to take up MC duties for the night, I also have a meet and greet after the show at a local pub. SO E.D.J. Events and Promotions presents All Star Wrestlings "Night of Champions" a 5 match card, with three title matches: the ASW Trans-Canada Title will be defended in a 2 out of three falls match, the Tag Team Belts are on the line and the actual Debut of the ASW Cruiserweight Championship also have a mixed Tag Match and 1 more. You can check out both All Star Wrestling and E.D.J. Events and Promotions on Facebook if you want, currently working on Newspaper and Radio advertisements, and have been approached by a Government agency on behalf of some of their clients for some free tickets. Kinda makes it feel more legit when appraoched that way, as an event. After the first one, hopefully it'll become easier to get other events off the ground, and there is talk from the Community about it might be possible for another event within 6 months taking them to twice a year in the end. |
Hey Folks, I have booked my first show with my Events Company and will be Hosting a Wrestling Show in the nearby community of Powell River, BC. The fun thing with this, is I have worked hard to try and get this as a double weekend one in Powell River and one in Gibsons, that didn't work so in the end, I will be using Powell River as my Promo in a return to get Gibsons online. I just find it funny in the end banging my head against obstacles that are put before me, yes I am frustrated and had a run in with a touch of depression but that was fleeting, as I have a number of other ideas that have now hit the wall and my starting point is coming. |
E.D.J. Events and Promotions. The idea for this company came from the knowledge that I’ve always enjoyed, in some capacity, creating celebrations, events and parties for people to be part of and enjoy. I am the first Canadian born member of my family, and I grew up mainly in smaller resource communities in Canada, with a couple of years in the U.S. What I’ve learned is that people look for different types, or ideas for types, of Entertainment. Now I want to explore the various avenues of types of Entertainment Past, Present and Future and help build memories for everyone who attends. E.D.J. is simply my own initials and for many years these initials appeared on the High Score screens of various videogames, in many places across the country. I spent too much time and money in various arcades, even working in one over the years; it was in the arcades that I began to notice a lack of Entertainment options in various towns and cities. This lack of entertainment choice effect, both the younger crowds as well as the adult crowds, so I hope to expand the options as much as possible. I’ve worked in several different fields over the years that had something to do with the entertainment industry from the arcade, to bars, to live theatre, to television to conventions as well as concerts and now Fireworks displays. This has given me some insight into ideas for events that cover multiple fields, though I must admit that the research into different events and ideas can be quite entertaining all on its own and I have several events that I look forward to bringing to fruition. Part of all this, is that over the years I’ve thrown some killer parties, as I was told, in my private life, some with themes or purposes such as my Millennium New Years Party, or St. Patty’s Day parties as well as being a co-host for a 3 day Canadian Party at a convention in the U.S. With this I truly enjoyed throwing the parties and have others have a good time and that was a jump towards my beginnings. My work in theatre as well as my own attendance of several different events has fueled my flair for the dramatic. With such a flair rarely seen in my normal day to day life, I look forward to allowing this to show and come more to light in the events I create and work on. With this said I have begun research into multiple ideas for both large and smaller events that may have a more intimate appeal in the end. The intriguing idea has to look at so many things with a childlike wonderment, though a number of the ideas may be outside the realm of children. Now as one of my favorite music artists put it; “Hello Hooray let the show begin I’ve been ready.” Alice Cooper This is currently on my Company's Facebook Page, and as my first event is currently scheduled for June (Venue contract is mailed to me tomorrow) and has the possibility of becoming a double weekend as well as a Fireworks schedule has arrived, my summer is looking up, so I had to go and increase things by applying for a job at a large convention in the US to keep me busy. |
I Know how everyone says they don't post here in Livejournal often, but I also realize it was rare for me to make real posts that weren't Meme's or tests. So this past month I returned to Montreal for an Annual Convention, the issue being that the last time I went to this convention (2006) in Montreal I received bad news about the loss of a friend and that put a damper on the Con for me, I felt the return to Montreal if I got more bad news I was writing off the city as it would be hard, but it was a good weekend, seeing a number of old friends and just talking with others for a time, was good. With this I caught a ride back to New Brunswick for the first time in five years to go and see family and friends and in a way I didn't realize I needed a recharge of my batteries in a way, that hadn't been charged in many years. The Neices and nephews are good and other friends seem well, I will be back here in Septemeber and possibly earlier. |
You were born during a Third Quarter moonThis phase occurs in the middle of the moon's waning phases, after the full moon and before the new moon.👁 Image - what it says about you -
You like to make up your own mind. You may find it hard to relate to mainstream opinions on issues, and you definitely don't always like what's popular. You can work out solutions and give birth to big ideas when left to yourself, and other people will be impressed with your conclusions even if they're not sure how you arrived at them.

Wishing Everyone a Good New Year even if a bit Belated ;) |
Hey Folks, Wishing you all an Early Happy Halloween as I will be busy on Halloween working on a Fireworks Show. Seems I will be wearing my Fireworks Guy Costume for the third year in a Row though Last year the Show was different as it was for the 2nd Day of the Olympic torchrun and not Halloween! Stay Safe and Have Fun |
Happy Thanksgiving Folks, hope it is a Good Weekend for Everyone.

Hey Folks, I am currently waiting on a Business Licence to launch my Event Planning Company E.D.J. Events and Promotions, in the end I figured it was time I go off my butt and began to move forward with the ideas that are running around my head. I am just begining to figure that I have the knowledge and ability to be dangerous in the Industry, and to an extent that is what is needed. Wish me luck. |
So the G8 and G20 Summits had a large security group hired, but they were using a # of the guards who worked the Olympics, but a number of us had to renew and our Security licences as well as get Ontario ones, I got my BC one renewed but the hold-up for the Ontario licence has cost me the gig it seems, 1100 licences in under a week seems to have been a bit hectic for the licencing Bureau. Sorry to say I won't be making it. |
So the company I worked Security for during the Olympics has a large gig in Toronto in June for 2 weeks, working lots of hours, this being said, this helps with the setting up of the Events Company which I like, and I may get a chance to see a couple of folks while I'm out there. Just have to wait and see if I get the job. |
What do you see as Trends worth paying attention to? In the business of Event Planning one must pay attention to trends and how they effect the people and world that surrounds them, as we are always looking for new ideas in which to build upon. I rarely paid attention to trends, I am most comfortable out of the spotlight at times, but now I see that I at least need to pay attention to the spotlight and what it falls upon, so as to build the events to have a spotlight. So what do you see as trendy, or trends that are coming to light? And folks, even if you stand outside "Mainstream" I want your opinion as well, as what might be trendy in one area can catch on in others in time. |
Hey Folks, Working on several ideas currently with the putting together a Event and Promotions company here on the coast, that will hopefully in time become one that allows me to travel across Canada with Events. I have been looking at a Government program that allows help with the starting of a business and wondered when I got asked the question of why are you waiting for the Program? hmmm ideas ideas ideas. |
Booked Hotel for ICC/Grand Masquerade now just need to see about other things. feels odd the thought of going to a game con and spending most of my time ignoring games and exploring the city.

Like most kids growing up the mentioning of a Circus was a big deal and it was an experience, to be had. I still remember going to see Ringling Brothers/Barnum and Bailey Circus when I was 8 or 9. In a lot of ways we don’t easily lose the fascination with the idea of Circus and we pass it on and share it with friends and family. Circus has evolved over the years and other parts have fallen away gaining their own life such as Carnivals, I have seen Circus on ice as well as the Flying silk styles as well as the original 3 ring styles that most think of, and all are worth experiencing. This past year I have been encouraged on two separate occasions to apply, which I did, to join the technicians for Cirque du Soliel as you may notice I didn’t get the job, yet. This past fall I attended the CSEME aka the Canadian Special Event Meeting Conference and Convention in Vancouver and over the two days a wellspring of ideas for several events sprung forth. In which I got contact information for several companies that do various aspects of Circus style work and entertainment, and having spoken with them, some are willing to work together for a set of shows. Part of the family went on a vacation to the UK last summer and I was brought back a program for the Royal Russian Circus giving me contact info to consider. My job counselor gave me contact info for a closer Circus out of California. It was just a feeling but I’ve begun to watch the signs that I have something to do with Circus in the long run, back east in Fredericton, several of my friends have fun most weekends with a group who dance the night away at clubs, with the idea of being seen and having fun the group is known as Circus. No real connection but I thought it interesting to note. I’ve been introduced to a few Magic/Juggling supply stores via some of the Circus entertainment groups, and I’m having fun picking up supplies and trying things out at times. The fire dance supplies are very interesting, so much so that I’ve considered classes. |
Hey FOlks, It's been quite a time since I last posted, but in this past month I've been up in Whistler, BC working Security for the 2010 Winter Olympics as a Security Supervisor. I was having an interesting time, working with several new friends made via the training courses and meeting new folks from all over the world in the end, but during the last week, I recieved th news that my Uncle Danny had passed away suddenly. This hit hard, and folks were trying to help me out, as I was working two shifts that day, a short 6 hour one plus an overnight, it was hard with talking to family, and trying to find out what happened but I was also kind of stunned, and was given the option of leaving if I needed to, as well as the option of calling for a replacement for myself if I needed to go for a walk or something which was good of them. I did go for a few drinks, and slept between shifts, as I was just stunned, but people wanted me to know they were there if I needed to talk, run whatever, I had people covering for me. So thanks to all of them. Whistler Creekside was a good place to work. With Glowing Hearts, though mine flickered in the darkness of loss for a bit. |
Missing all the girls , naughty and nice, who have made my life special!

Hey Everyone, Happy Holidays to all, whatever form they may take for you, and a Hope for a Brighter New Year! |
"Getting to know you" Meme You know how sometimes people on your friends list post about stuff going on in their lives, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute! Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating THAT PERSON? Since when?" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes. Please copy the topics below, erase my answers and put yours in their place, and then post it in your journal! [Or don't, or post in comments, as you like.] Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration. One-word answers seldom help anyone out.
