About the Program
Prepare to be at the forefront of the rapidly growing biotechnology field with a Master of Science in Biotechnology from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine—a program administered through the departments of biochemistry, neurosciences and pharmacology.
The only of its kind in Ohio, this program provides hands-on learning opportunities that will help you adapt and earn up to 20% more in salary in various career fields across the biotech industry—from vaccine and drug development to forensics, toxicology and quality control.
What to Expect
In our three-semester plus internship program, you’ll not only gain knowledge in experimental design through our biotechnology core courses. You’ll also receive firsthand training in one of our offered specialization tracks in biochemistry, neurosciences, and pharmacology, which you can select when you apply to the program or by the end of your first semester.
And, you’ll have access to the School of Medicine’s Enhancing Research and Industry Career Horizons (EnRICH) program, which can help you find your ideal internship.

Beyond the Classroom
At the School of Medicine, numerous state-of-the-art facilities are at your fingertips for research, from those pertaining to integrated genomics and imaging research to the Center for Synchrotron Biosciences. You can also further your research using the medical school’s core facilities and centers.

Admission Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum 3.0 GPA in chemistry or a life science (either already completed, or to be completed before you enroll)

To be considered for our fall-only admission, you should apply to the program by June 1. If you’re an international student, you’re required to apply to the program by May 1 due to visa processing.
