1. How were you first introduced to Live? A lot of my friends were big fans of theirs when I was in high school, I'd heard of them before but I was 16 when I really started loving them
2. What is your favorite song? Favorite album? Song- Too hard to choose!! One of their classics, Lightning Crashes, was my first favorite song of theirs, and I still love it and Album- Either Throwing Copper or V
3. Do you have any stories to share regarding this band? Ummm....nope. Unless you're interested in that my mom bought me V as a favor payback for going on vacation in the middle of boring Nebraska with her (I'm from Nebraska, but the farther west you go the more *exciting* it gets...)
4. Any other thoughts you wish to voice? Nope.

1. How were you first introduced to Live?
My boyfriend, Robert, is a huge fan and hangs out with them on occasion, like when they are touring around the Dallas / Fort Worth area. He's gone to after parties and they all know him by name.

2. What is your favorite song? Favorite album?
Well, my favourite song is White Discussion...I think...maybe Simple Creed. My favourite album is Distance to Here....hmmm...perhaps Secret Samadhi...

3. Do you have any stories to share regarding this band?
Ed K. grabed my hip and signed my booby...Adam K. had a beer and I had a bottle of water and he cheersed me!!! That was a fun time. Afterwords, we went to the Green Room in Deep Ellum and drank and talked to the band.

4. Any other thoughts you wish to voice?
If anyone knows Robert Saba...let me know and he'll post on here too...maybe...lol

1. How were you first introduced to Live?
A childhood spent with my mother playing Copper and Samadhi cranked up on the stereo. And back in 99' I would listen through the wall to my brother playing TDTH in his room... once I found out the cd was my mom's I borrowed it, and I was hooked ^_^

2. What is your favorite song? Favorite album?
It use to be "Dance With You", and while I still love that song I've moved on to something more powerful.... "Pillar of Davidson". I cannot explain the pulsing power of that song in simple words.

Album is TDTH, without further thought needed. It's just so completely beautiful and lyrical and alive.

3. Do you have any stories to share regarding this band?
Aaah man, I remember this. Back in 2000 my mom ("just for fun") entered a contest on FOL for a sonic session in Georgia. We knew we wouldn't win, we just entered anyway. The problem was... we did win, and Atlanta was about 800 miles away. My dad did forgive us for that oversight and we were off!

The room was tiny.... there were about of a hundred of us in there, and the only thing separating us from the band was a line of tape on the floor. I was so close that Ed commented on my MJ 'Screamer' shirt. And considering that there were pretty little twenty-somethings sitting around us, for him to talk to some kid was awesome.

Of course they were amazing. Song list was The Distance, Dolphin’s Cry, Beauty of Grey, and Lightning Crash. But one of my favorite things was the extermination of the fear everyone has about meeting rock stars. They weren't rude or assholes or anything... they were just good guys.

My mom's account of the concert got printed in Homespun a while ago, which was neat too.

4. Any other thoughts you wish to voice?
Has anyone been to the Yahoo Launch site? The LIVE bio they have on there is atrocious.

I just wanted to say that I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, Happy Hannakah, Joyous Kwanza or just some cool days off. And Happy New Year.

I had a good holiday but no one got me one of the things I wanted most. Awake. I have a policy not to buy myself anything like CDs or DVDs before Christmas because then I can never think of anything to ask Santa for and my mother gets upset. Then this year, of all years, she didn't even ask!!!!! (Which means I didn't get Harry Potter 3 or the last Lord of the Rings, extended version).

Oh well, now i have to go shopping and get Awake myself.

As before, Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beauty of Grey

if i told you he was your brother
you'd reminisce then you would go about your day
if said you oughta give him some of your water
you'd shake your canteen and walk away

and the perception taht divides you from him, is a lie
for some reason you never asked why
this is not a black white world
you can't afford to believe in your side

this is not a black and white world
to be alive i say the colors must swirl
and i believe that maybe today
we will all get to appreciate
the beauty of grey

if i told you she was your mother
would you analyze the situation and be gone?
if i said you oughta give her some of your water
your eyes would light up like the dawn

and the perception that divides you from her, is a lie
for some reason we never asked why
this is not a black white world
you can't afford to believe in your side

this is not a black and white world
to be alive i say the colors must swirl
and i believe that maybe today
we will all get to appreciate

the beauty of grey
the beauty of grey
the beauty of grey
the beauty of grey

look into your eyes
no daylight

I really love this song so I chose it to play the game with.
I think it worked out well

LIVE - Overcome Lyrics
even now the world is bleedin' but feelin' just fine all numb
in our castle where we're always free to choose never free
enough
to find i wish somethin' would break cuz we're runnin' out of

and i am overcome i am overcome holy water in my lungs i am
overcome

these women in the street pullin' out their hair my master's
in the yard givin' light to the unaware this plastic little
place
is just a step amongst the stairs

and i am overcome i am overcome baby holy water in my lungs i am
overcome

so drive me out out to that open field turn the ignition off
and spin around your help is here but i'm parked in this open
space
blockin' the gates of love

1. How were you first introduced to Live?

I saw my friend Kevin listening to his headphones while I was at school in 8th grade. I asked him who it was and he said it was Live and described the type of music to me. Being naive to great music at the time and being very young at the time, I dismissed it as bad music and made fun of him a little. During the fieldtrip that year I listened to "I Alone" (which I had heard of before) and loved it. I bought the CD and was immediately hooked. I listened to it the whole trip and have not stopped.

2. What is your favorite song? Favorite album?

My favorite song is either "Run to the Water," "They Stood Up For Love," or "Simple Creed." It is not easy to choose because I love every song.

3. Do you have any stories to share regarding this band?

Not really. I did see them this year at Atlantic City though with my girlfriend. She got the tickets through her dad and it was the best concert I have ever seen. The best song I have heard them play in concert was when they played the Feastival. Ed grew his hair out to look like John Lennon and did an amazing rendition of what I believe to be the most beautiful song ever "Imagine."

4. Any other thoughts you wish to voice?

I am 21, I live near Philly, and I am already part of the "Friends of Live" community.

1. How were you first introduced to Live?

A few years ago, I saw the video for "Lightning Crashes", but I never knew who the artist was. A few years later, "Heaven" came on the radio, and the DJ said the band's name was Live. So I looked for some of their other music, and I saw "Lightning Crashes" under their name. After that, I was hooked.

2. What is your favorite song? Favorite album?

Favorite song: "Selling the Drama"
Album: Throwing Copper

3. Do you have any stories to share regarding this band?

None, sadly.

4. Any other thoughts you wish to voice?

Live deserves more credit.

1. How were you first introduced to Live?

My friend Heather, by freshman year of high school, when I was trying to find out what music I liked, instead of what my parents liked. She lent me Throwing Copper (her favorite album), and I was hooked.

2. What is your favorite song? Favorite album?

I can narrow it down to two, I Alone and They Stood Up For Love (although I also really like Vine Street for those of you who know that one). My favorite album will always be Throwing Copper.

3. Do you have any stories to share regarding this band?

I saw them at the Taj Majal in Atlantic City a few years ago, and they brought Dennis Rodman out on stage to sing I Alone with them in their encore.

4. Any other thoughts you wish to voice?

I think Ed has the greatest male lead singer's voice of any band today (2nd place - Scott Weiland). I also likes Ed's cameo in Fight Club.

Hello everybody. I figured this community could use a little more attention, so I thought I'd ask everyone a question:

Have you ever been to a Live concert? If so, how many times? Which one was the best? Was there a worst? Tell us all about it!

I, personally, have been to three. The first one was best for the main fact I was in first row. I was there with my mom and my two best friends which made it more special. And I'm pretty sure I made eye contact with Patrick. ;-) It felt really magical. I'm disappointed that I haven't been able to afford tickets the last few times they were here so I'm keeping my eye out on tour dates near my area (IL).

Also, I got "Awake" yesterday. My boss had accidentally ordered me the one without the DVD, which came out about two weeks after the one with the DVD. Then, they sent me the wrong one and I had to wait AGAIN. But it came and I'm super excited to have all the videos on DVD.

And isn't tomorrow Chad T.'s birthday?

Right, so I bought Awake Tuesday and it has since rarely left my cd/dvd player. It's not like I haven't heard the songs before, but when put together as they are amazing. Ed's interview was interesting to listen to, just hearing about the evolution of the band and their influences not to mention some of the videos that i didn't even know existed, like "Ghost." I wish he talked about the band as Public Affection though and went over some of the influences behind Death of a Dictionary, but don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I'm praying for an American tour though...Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.

I just started this Live Journal thing...gave in to the peer pressure of society.

1. I was first introduced to +LIVE+ when my aunt bought me Throwing Copper in 1994...I was only eight and latched on to bands easily...+LIVE+ is one of the few bands that lasted until now though. I listened to that album constantly until my parents took it away...they said it was driving them crazy. I've been obsessed with them since then. They're the only band that I can play their albums repeatedly and never get tired of them; they've become very sentimental.

2. My favorite song is "TBD" off of Throwing Copper...the lyrics are amazing and they match the music so well. My favorite version of it is off of their Unplugged set...anyone who hasn't heard that album needs to check it out. My favorite album is Secret Samadhi though...the songs feed off each other so nicely and Ed did such a masterful job with filling it with emotions.

3. I spent most of high school suffering from depression and addiction until finally my parents didn't know what else to do so they sent me to a treatment center in Roosevelt, UT...the middle of nowhere. I was there for nearly two years and until a year into my stay I wasn't allowed to listen to music. For Christmas though, my parents sent me the Birds of Prey album...I had not heard it yet because I was in treatment before it was released. If any of you have ever fought with addiction and overcoming depression, you know that it is one of the most emotionally draining things that you can go through in life. It's a lot harder work than the movies show, they glorify it too much. Anyway, that was the only +LIVE+ cd I had and I listened to it every night when I was going to sleep and thought about all that I had in life to be grateful for. That whole album is uplifting and helped me through the most difficult time of my life. It brought a sense of comfort that very few things provided me with.

4. I'm very excited about their greatest hits cd coming out in a few weeks...don't know any +LIVE+ fans who aren't, but the cd isn't near as exciting as the DVD. Most of the songs on the CD I already have but the videos are going to be amazing.

Yay! A Live community. It just occured to me today to look for one, so here I am. My name's Patty and I'm 21. I've been a fan of Live for 10 years now (wow, I feel old).

1. How were you first introduced to Live? When I was 11, I got cable for the first time in years and I watched MTV all time time. At the time, "I Alone" was being played a lot on MTV. I didn't think too much of it at the time but I thought they weren't half-bad.

2. What is your favorite song? Favorite album? "Selling the Drama" and Throwing Copper. "STD" is how I really got into Live. I already knew "I Alone" and "Lightning Crashes." Then, one day, it was New Year's Eve and MTV's Top 100 Videos of 1994 was on the TV. I was in another room when I heard the most amazing thing. It was the most incredible song I'd ever heard. I ran to the living room and watched the video until the end, when I saw it was "Selling the Drama" by Live. So yeah, it's still my favorite song.

3. Do you have any stories to share regarding this band? The first time I saw them in concert, I was first row. And I made eye contact with Pat. :-D

4. Any other thoughts you wish to voice? When people I know think of Live, they associate them with me. Everyone knows they're my favorite band and it's mentioned a lot at work (we get to put on whatever music we want, so of course Live is often thrown in the mix. Or was, until people were getting annoyed...). My boss even gave me a Live keychain. Also, people always know it's my car because of the Live sticker on my rear window. It always makes me happy to find fellow Live fans.

Okay, that's enough of my ramblings. :-D

This morning, I started my CD player. I haven't used the one at home in a while because my roommate has a night job and us usually sleeping when I want to listen to music. He's such a meanie. ANYway, he wasn't home this morning so I started playing my CDs. I didn't even open the changer, just hit "random" and got in shower. Next thing I know, my oldest cat Samadhi (age 3) is "singing" along with Ed Kowalczych. Unfortunately, Samadhi doesn't have that good a voice and my neighbor started banging on her wall.

Well, I least I know that I've raised well cultured kitties!

Hey guys,

I was just wondering what Live were up to. I'd find out myself but I'm too lazy. Plus, I thought it would be nice to interact with the community. After all, I only have one friend on lj. By the way, don't make me a friend if you pity me for not having any friends hehe.

So anyways, are they touring right now? If so, where? I can't wait 'til they come back to Australia. My guess is that they won't until they've recorded another album.

That's it for now. See ya.

Hey!

1. How were you first introduced to Live? I first heard Live when Dolphin's Cry was released in 2000(?). I saw the music video on TV and I've loved them ever since.
2. What is your favorite song? They then released Run to the Water and I was like "why are they singing about water?" (I was 13). Anyways, I think it's funny coz now it's my favourite song. Favorite album? I love them all, but I'd have to say both The Distance To Here and Throwing Copper.
3. Do you have any stories to share regarding this band? No............I went to a concert once. Oh, they'll be back. I shall see them again.
4. Any other thoughts you wish to voice? hehe I went nuts when I stumbled across this community. Live fans are the nicest people and Live are the best band.

My name's Liz. I live in Sydney, Australia. I'm 18. I can be shy. My passion is music. I'm addicted to rock. My favourite band is Live. I'm a drummer and I'm in a band with my best friends.
