On March 25, 2026, freelance photojournalist Hussain Hamood, who collaborates with the pro-Iran Lebanese broadcaster Al-Manar TV, was killed in an Israeli strike while filming in the southern Lebanese city of Nabatieh, sources close to the journalist confirmed to CPJ.
Lebanon’s Minister of Information Paul Morcos denounced Hamood’s killing and demanded international action against the targeting of journalists.
CPJ emailed the Israeli Defense Forces’ (IDF)International Press Desk for comment on killing of Hamood but did not receive a reply at the time of publication.
