Hanesydd ac athronydd o'r Unol Daleithiau a aned yn Ffrainc oedd Jacques Martin Barzun (30 Tachwedd 1907 – 25 Hydref 2012) a astudiodd hanes syniadau a diwylliant.[1]

Fe'i ganwyd yn Créteil, yn fab i Henri-Martin ac Anna-Rose Barzun. Aelod y grŵp Abbaye de Créteil oedd ei tad.

Cafodd ei addysg yng Coleg Columbia, Dinas Efrog Newydd. Priododd y fiolynydd Mariana Lowell ym 1936.
