⇱ Upwork Top Rated Feeling - DEV Community

Programming and technology have been my passion since my early days.

Growing up in a middle-class family, I often hesitated before buying new clothes. But when it came to technology, gadgets, books, or anything that could help me learn and grow as a developer, I never hesitated. Tech was never just a hobby for meβ€”it was something I genuinely loved.

I always dreamed of becoming a software engineer. Unfortunately, I couldn't pursue a formal IT-related degree because my university path through the National University of Bangladesh didn't offer the opportunities I had hoped for.

For a long time, I carried a question in my mind:

Can someone without an IT degree build a successful career in software development?

Would companies hire a self-taught programmer who learned through curiosity, practice, and years of personal projects?

Despite the uncertainty, I kept coding.

Eventually, I landed my first job as a Junior Developer at a local company. Like many careers, my journey wasn't smooth. There were ups and downs, moments of self-doubt, and times when I almost lost hope.

But one thing never changed: my eagerness to learn.

Every challenge pushed me to improve. Every mistake became a lesson. Every project helped me grow.

Today, after 14 years of coding, I have achieved a milestone that means a lot to me:

πŸ† I earned the Top Rated badge on Upwork.

To many people, it may seem like just another badge. But for me, it represents years of learning, persistence, late nights, continuous self-improvement, and believing in myself even when the path wasn't clear.

This achievement gives me even more motivation to keep moving forward.

I know there is still a long road ahead, and there is so much more to learn. But today, I feel grateful for how far I've comeβ€”from being a self-taught hobby programmer wondering whether anyone would ever hire me, to becoming a Top Rated freelancer trusted by clients around the world.

This is not the destination.

It's just another milestone in the journey.

And hopefully, one day, I can look back on this moment as one of the many steps that led me to becoming a truly outstanding software developer.

The journey continues. πŸš€
