The Office of Research was originally created within Development to be the stateโ€™s sole source data center for population projections and demographic information. Since its establishment, the officeโ€™s responsibilities have expanded to include the provision of data and analysis on economic, industrial, and program trends of the economy and the people of the state of Ohio. 

Through reports, and maps, businesses and individuals can obtain data on the economic activities of Ohio, as well as the population trends of cities, villages, townships, and counties. The office is a member of the Federal State Cooperative Program for Population Estimates and is the U.S. Census Bureauโ€™s State Data Center for Ohio. 

In addition to the Office of Research data products, additional data about Ohio from state agencies and entities is available at data.ohio.gov.

After each decennial Census, the Office of Research publishes statewide and county-level population projections.
