What DIY projects are you doing for your wedding? I will pretty much be doing most of the stuff myself. We are already married but have decided for our 5 year renew our vowes. We are planning this from 1,500 miles away. We aren't doing a reception & the place where we are having a ceremony is in the National Forest so we will just need a permit. So, for us, there isn't a lot of physical stuff involved.


I do however have a question about the DIY bouquets. I did try & look at the tags a bit but didn't find anything. ( So cut for a picture & question.Collapse )

I don't know about you gals, but I love the look of mercury glass. It has that awesome elegant and vintage feel to it. It's also EXPENSIVE.

After reading a couple blogs on people's various experiments with faking mercury glass, I decided to give it a try.
There were a few methods that were suggested:
One involved liquid silver leaf, alcohol and Looking Glass Spray by Krylon.

So I'm catering my own wedding. For dessert I'm planning on serving mini cupcakes in two flavors (vanilla orange and strawberry lemonade), brownies on a stick, and spritz cookies. How on earth do you figure out how many to make?

In July of last year I hosted a garden tea party bridal shower for 👁 Image
duckierose. There was A LOT of DIY projects involved, so I apologize for the length of this post.

Ladies were asked to wear dresses and froofy large hats and a pretty darn girly event was thrown. 👁 Image
duckierose is very well loved by all of her friends for which I am extremely lucky because I had a TON of offers to help. Of course I accepted. (Momma didn't raise no fool!)

I saw the Mod post, I had posted this in the wedding comm and I don't know why I hadn't posted here.

I did just about everything possible DIY, my motto was why pay for it when I can do it myself? My DIY includes -

-Flowers - done by my MOH and grandma
-My veil
-the hair flower I am wearing
-My daughter's headband
-ring bearer pillow
-aisle runner
-matchbook wedding favors
-hot cocoa wedding favors
-guestbook
-invitations (I bought the pack from Michaels and designed them and added some embossing)
-my MOH made my "bride" hanger
-programs, same with the invites, bought the package and designed them myself
-the cake and cupcakes were made by my MOH as our wedding gift
-menus
-place cards
-centerpieces
-unity candles - in total cost me about $5, I just couldn't pay $40 for a set!
-all of the decorating/organizing/planning was done by me (that's DIY right??)

Hello! I'm throwing a tea party themed bridal shower for my friend, and I was curious if anyone had any templates for pop-up tea party invitations, or a tutorial on how to make pop-up invites? Thanks!

Does anyone know of any wedding planning sites that offer in-depth checklists? I remember all of the big stuff (flowers, cake, photographers) but what about all the little costs here and there?? (send-off favors, place cards, tax, gratuity) if anyone has an answer, i'd appreciate it!! <3

What DIY projects are you doing for your wedding? My wedding dress is being made by my aunt, who happens to be a professional seamstress, I am making my own alter, bouquets, centerpieces, cake decorations, veil, and much much more.

A friend pointed me to this community, so I made a live-journal account and joined. I'm just figuring out the layout of the site, so forgive me if I'm bumbling. As for the wedding, a whole lot is still up in the air here (I'm really not the wedding-planning type, but I'll admit it's kind of fun). Hopefully I can start making some decisions and getting things started soon, though there is still plenty of time before the wedding.

Wedding Location: Either New York, North Carolina, or Georgia - our families are really spread out across the East coast, so the location will depend on what's convenient for the most people.
Wedding colors/theme: I haven't really decided. I'm liking light, cool minty greenish blues, with either gold or orange, but that's definitely not set in stone. I want the feel of a country fair, but in November, an outdoor wedding might cause some complications, so I may go for something totally different.
What DIY projects are you doing for your wedding? The budget is super limited, so any Invitations, decorations and favors I want to have will have to be handmade and super cheap. I'm hoping I can find friends to help with a cake and wedding photos. The dress I will probably find second hand and tailor it myself. Oh, and the best part -  I will be making my wedding rings!

What DIY projects are you doing for your wedding? save the dates, favors, invitations, pew enders (i don't know what to call them .. the things that we're putting on the outside of the pews in the middle aisle), and i'm sure a ton of other things that i can't remember right now. if it's not diy, we've found friends that are going to be doing it for us either free, or really really cheap. (our photographer is charging us $150 for engagement pictures and then 10 hours on our wedding day, and we get a CD of each of these days, and have permission to make as many copies as we'd like -- we just had to give permission for her to use the pictures for her portfolio)

Wedding colors/theme: Colors are green&black and the theme is a "rustic outdoorsy" theme.  Everything is outside in a popular outdoorsy camping town, so the theme comes pretty easily.
What DIY projects are you doing for your wedding?  I havent done anything yet, but I plan on doing DIY centerpieces, save the dates & invitations, and pretty much anything else possible.  We are on a budget so we would like to keep costs as low as possible.

I just made this journal a few days ago to help me focus and get my thoughts straight on my wedding.  So feel free to add me, especially if you have a similar theme or colors or really anything for that matter!

I went through some of the older posts and didn't see a lot on cupcake towers....  I purchased carboard cake rounds (enough for 5 tiers with 8 inches being the smallest tier).  I have plans to paint (and seal) the cardboard, and put ribbon around the edges, but for the life of me I am stumped what to use between the tiers that will provide ample support but not take up too much room from the cupcakes on the tiers.....

Suggestions?
