The Aspose.Cells for .NET components do not require Microsoft Excel to be installed either on the client or on the server side.

Development Environments

You can use Aspose.Cells for .NET to develop applications in any development environment that targets the .NET platform, but the following environments are explicitly supported:

To use Aspose.Cells, the machine does not need Microsoft Excel installed because the library itself is a spreadsheet management engine. However, to view the Excel file generated by the component, you need to have at least Microsoft Excel Viewer installed on your machine.

Aspose.Cells Grid Suite System Requirements

The Aspose.Cells Grid Suite is composed of three controls:

  • Aspose.Cells.GridDesktop
  • Aspose.Cells.GridWeb
  • Aspose.Cells.GridJs

The system requirements of the controls are described separately.

To use these controls, the machine running Aspose.Cells.GridDesktop and Aspose.Cells.GridWeb does not need Microsoft Excel installed, as they can open and save Excel spreadsheets without any need for Microsoft Excel.
