Great post and thanks for sharing. I spent most of my career working with Oracle and lately with MongoDB. I agree that in a lot of cases people move too quickly to a NoSQL solution where an open source SQL database might be a better solution. The flexible schema of MongoDB is it's "killer feature" allowing more rapid product iteration than can be had with a fixed relational schema. However, it's worth noting that MongoDB has had schema validation available since version 3.2 which was released in early 2016.
