The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued an orange-level alert for cold weather and strong winds, with potential dust storms or sandstorms, across several regions of Morocco on Monday and Tuesday.
Temperatures are expected to drop to between –2 °C and 3 °C in the provinces of Figuig, Ksar El Kebir, Jerada, Taourirt, Sefrou, Taza, Al Hoceima, and Chefchaouen. Even colder conditions, ranging from –3 °C to –6 °C, are forecast in Tinghir, Al Haouz, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Khénifra, Midelt, Ifrane, Boulemane, and Ouarzazate.
In addition, strong winds reaching 70–80 km/h are expected to stir up dust and sandstorms in the provinces of Figuig, Assa-Zag, Tata, Tan-Tan, Sidi Ifni, Tiznit, Smara, and Guelmim. The advisory is in effect Monday from noon until 10 p.m.
Authorities advise residents in affected areas to take precautions, particularly when traveling or engaging in outdoor activities, due to the risk of low visibility and harsh weather conditions.
