Knowledge is as important as the air we breathe. Not taking heed of that is grasping for it whilst drowning in sheer ignorance.

As a self-proclaimed WikiGnome, there isn't obviously much to report home in terms of article creation β I'd rather do my WikiGnome business in the lurk, under the ad hoc Wikipedian mushrooms, than expose myself to the rather flashy but harmful, UV-laden spotlights of recognition.
β My contributions
The nick Maringaense comes from the demonym for natives of MaringΓ‘, in southern Brazil β where I am originally from. I also lived for several years in both London and Oxford.
Subjects I am very interested or conversant in:
| Topic
Notes
| π Astronomy & Astrophysics
Stars, cosmology, deep-sky objects, the big questions
| π· Photography
Favourite genre: street photography β colour, coincidence, geometry
| π΅ Digital Audio
Lossy and lossless encoding; audio formats and codecs; active member of the Hydrogen Audio community
| π History
WWI flying aces (a lifelong fascination); Victorian and Edwardian London; British social history
| π¬π§ England
London and Oxford, where I spent a good number of years
| π Literature
The classics; eerie gothic horror (18thβ20th c.); sci-fi; crime fiction; Sherlock Holmes
