"The Catholic Church is an institution I am bound to hold divine – but for unbelievers a proof of its divinity might be found in the fact that no merely human institution conducted with such knavish imbecility would have lasted a fortnight." – Hilaire Belloc

About me

[edit]

Username

[edit]

My username is from the Old English poem "Deor". The poem is about perseverance in the face of adversity and each stanza is separated by the refrain: "Þæs ofereode, ΓΎisses sΖΏa mΓ¦g", literally 'That passed over, so may this' but often translated wholly as 'This too shall pass'. In Old English, my username was probably pronounced something like [ΞΈΓ¦sˈo.verˌe͜oː.de], but I usually pronounce it like /ΞΈΓ¦sˌoʊvΙ™reΙͺˈjoʊdΙ™/ (thass OH-vΙ™r-ay-YOH-dΙ™).
