[edit]Inherited from Medieval Tashelhit ايغسّ (iɣess, “bone”), from Proto-Berber *e-ɣăst (“bone”), from earlier *ā-ḳăst, ultimately from Proto-Afroasiatic *ḳas- (“bone”)[1].
Cognate with Zenaga iʔSi (“bone”), Awjila aɣàst (“bone”), Guanche chaso (“bone”), Proto-Chadic *ḳas- (“bone”), and Egyptian qs (“bone”).
