[edit]- Contrary to English, in Dutch this word is not used to refer to fast food establishments, which are instead referred to with terms such as snackbar (or non-generic terminology referring to the type of fast food served, such as dönerzaak, pizzeria, and so forth).
- In Belgium, the plural form restauranten is common and co-exists with the plural form restaurants. In the Netherlands, the plural form restauranten is rare.
