'Solar Eclipse' military drills coming soon
The main aim is to improve the mutual cooperation of artillery, mortar and anti-tank units. At the same time, the exercise will train the supply and logistics of National Armed Forces units in various conditions.
Soldiers and National Guardsmen from the Land Forces Mechanized Infantry Brigade, the National Guard's 1st Riga Brigade, 2nd Vidzeme Brigade, and 3rd Latgale Brigade, as well as allies from the NATO Multinational Brigade Latvia, will participate in "Solar Eclipse 2026".
Historically, the Solar Eclipse exercise is organized by the Land Forces Mechanized Infantry Brigade, and this year it is being held for the sixth time.
During the training from March 27th to April 2nd, artillery live firing will take place at the military training ground "Ādaži", which may cause some disturbance to those within earshot. Shooting exercises are also planned during the night from March 24th to 31st.
Temporary restrictions on road traffic and the movement of military equipment on public roads in the vicinity of the military training areas are likely so the NBS calls on residents to be understanding and cooperative.
