China

Greetings to the community. I'm a guy from the US, been an expat in China for quite a long time now. Anyone interested in reading anything about that should come take a look at my blog sometime. There isn't much up now as my blog is rather new, but I'm just looking for some readers.

Offered a job in Bahrain: how far will my salary take me?

Hi all :)

I have been offered a job in Bahrain at 1018 BHD/mo plus a housing allowance of 350 BHD/mo in Al Riffa. I am single and female. What is the cost of living over there and how far is this money likely to take me?

Thank you for your time :)

Swine Flu Scare will be used as precedent for more big gov

Cross posted to the natural living site as well. Rest of the article HERE: http://www.prisonplanet.com/ron-paul-warns-swine-flu-scare-will-be-used-as-precedent-for-more-big-government.html
along w/ the original 70's gov promo video encouraging people to take the vaccine - which ultimately paralyzed several hundred people.
-----------

โ€œStep back and think for a minute before rushing and panickingโ€ is the message coming from Texas Congressman Ron Paul who has warned that the swine flu scare will once again be used as a precedent for big government intrusion.

โ€œIt makes me think back to 1976, the first year I served in the Congress,โ€ Paul has said in a video update. โ€œWe had a vote on the swine flu. Back then there was panic, they said it was going to sweep the nation and they rapidly came up with some flu shots and the government was going to inoculate everybody and save the world from this disaster.โ€

โ€œIt turned out that our instincts were correct.โ€ the Congressman, also a medical physician, commented. โ€œNot only did we think that the government should be involved in making medical decisionsโ€ฆ but the flu came, the flu went and one person died, except for those individuals that died from getting the flu vaccine.โ€

Earlier this week we reported on the events of 1976, highlighting the fact that this last significant outbreak of swine flu in the U.S. originated at the army base at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

President Gerald Ford and then Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld (a man who has long standing intimate ties with the big pharma companies that have and will reap millions in profits from these scares) instituted a mass nationwide vaccination program. More than 40 million people were vaccinated. However, the program was stopped short after over 500 cases of Guillain-Barre syndrome, a severe paralyzing nerve disease, were reported. Officially 30 people died as a direct result of the vaccinations, though the real figure is generally thought to have been much higher.

At the time Congressman Ron Paul was one of only two representatives to vote down the vaccination program. His comments were recorded in the book Swine Flu Expose, by Eleanora I. McBean, Ph.D., N.D.

Paul described the move as โ€œa shocking misuse of funds โ€ฆand an evil political maneuverโ€, โ€œblatant advertising efforts to panic the people into taking Swine Flu shots will fail.โ€ Paul said.

Other - since I'm up late calling Asia job hunting, I listen to George Noory on Coast to Coast AM. Last Night he had all the Swine Flu experts - biologists to alternative media. They succinctly think this is bioengineering to rid us of Hispanic folks and a tactic to divert attention from what's really going on. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but given history repeating itself, will be it is a diversion ploy and will NOT be taking anything other than more vitamins - EVEN when traveling via plane to Asia in 2 1/2 weeks.

kitty travel!

Hello,

I am moving to Amsterdam from Connecticut in a month, and am wondering about the best way to get my 2 lovely cats there. I'm good on the papers, vaccinations, etc. but am less sure about the best way to get them from point A to point B.

I am also curious about using a courier service or simply shipping them directly via an airline. I was able to finagle free standby tix over, so it might be much easier and cost only marginally more to have the cats shipped separately than to have to cancel the standby ticket and buy a 1-way in addition to the extra luggage fees. Anyone tried this?

Just wondering if any of you have any experiences with pet relocation worth sharing. Many thanks for any stories!

More on Tax Day Tea Parties

My disgust w/ the US media continues as I await my leave of the country to Asia. Barely a few TV stations covered any mention of the Tax protest here nor around the country. Hardly any of the numbers of attendance were accurate. NBC, ABC, CBS and even Fox were busy doing other things. Those that did were shoddy to outright attempting to pit folks as Anti Obama folks and gun nuts. Here's an example link from 1 of the 2 local papers, a notoriously liberal rag owned by Greenspun companies - but their pictures are pretty good:

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/apr/15/hundreds-rally-against-taxes-criticize-bailout/

and of course the reports on the news here of course didn't mention hometown Vegas LP VP wayne root, nothing third party

๐Ÿ‘ Image

nothing of the babies in diapers w/ $$ amts of their debt pinned to their behinds, no pictures of american flags, don't tread on me huge yellow flags all over the place, correct numbers (2k by park service, 184 and 5 dogs at post office by our count on the picket line) guy in the barrell w/ 1/2 clothes on 'taxually abused' w/ tea bags on his ears, the hundreds of veterans wearing their pins, families who came out for group picnics of all generations, soldiers in their gear combat to civil and revolutionary war w/ fake muskets, almost entirely handwritten signs w/ list of real to humorous grievances, people passing out literature from end the fed to take back the republic to immigration, dems, repubs, independents, pissed off anyone to libertarians... i'm hearing reports online on blogs to Dave Ramsey financial advisor nationally syndicated radio doing nothing but asking of people calling-in what they can report, 1280Am out of Modesto carried nationally
reporting all the numbers of people turning out all over the nation, Jerry Doyle radio of Vegas nationally syndicated reminding us that major media won't have the real if any story and the stories his listeners are calling in to tell of numbers MUCH higher than anyone anticipated...

as a friend said this evening, the opening salvo has been fired.

Now let's carry it on.

i'm stealing your Abagail Adams quote Jan. ;-)

More here from the Midwest or 'fly-over country' as some in the coast of CA would say... who apparently had 15K themselves show up.

Garmisch, Germany

My SO and I are thinking about moving to Garmisch, Germany to be closer to family. There is a resort there at Edelweiss for the armed forces.

Do any of you work there? I'm trying to figure out whether this would be a good move for us, but I'm having trouble finding people who have worked there. It would be dorm style living quarters and hotel jobs.

I guess I'm just trying to get a feel for what that life would be like. I've been to Garmisch before to visit with the aforementioned relatives, but I've never lived or worked in Germany.

Moving to Australia Advice Needed

Hi there, I am going to be moving to Australia (my sister lives there and has citizenship and my mother is Australian), in fact the whole family is emigrating. However I gather there are firms that help with this process (sorting out visa's and find you a job etc they charge a fee and a percentage of your first years salary). Can anyone recommend one for me to use? I would rather use a firm that someone has used successfully.

Plus any other advice for this whole process (as it's a bit nerve-racking). I have a whole 2 year plan

Thank you in advance for your advice.
