The quarrel over Iraq caused between Chirac and U.S. president George W. Bush.

I wonder if I could say to replace .
From my gut feeling i'd say, that deep seperation would work quite good,
but than you have to refer to the nation rather than to the person,
who represents the nation. That means you have to say:
The quarrel caused (...) a deep seperation between French
and the United States. I can be wrong of course. Let the natives clarify.👁 Wink ;)
