Hello,

Can the verb admire take a "that clause"? For example, is it correct to say, "I admire that S + V"?

Thank you.
Hi, Sus4!

As far as I know, 'admire' can't be followed by a 'that clause'.

You can admire somebody/something (for something).
Examples:
I've been admiring the beautiful flowers in your garden.
I admire him for his honesty.

Hope it helps!
Let's wait for the native speakers' opinion.

Yes, it can sus4.

I admire that you came to help me when I needed help.

You can also say:
- You came to help me when I needed help. I admire that.
- I admire you for coming to help me when I needed help.

Or, I admire this painting.

Or, I admire you!

Hi Fernita,
Thank you for your comments. Your examples are ones I'm familiar with, and I didn't know if "admire" can be followed by a "that clause."

Hi Moogey,
Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.
