In The Gamal by Ciarán Collins I read this sentence (he's talking about a dictionary):
"Only book I ever held in my hand that didn't have some fucking agenda. My book doesn't have one either."

What is he referring to? An agenda is not something you would find in a book. Is it an Irish English word meaning something else?

This may help. Basically, he is saying the book is not being used as a tool to impose the opinions or beliefs of the author on the reader.
Oh, I get it now! I thought it was an Irish English word for a table of contents or something like that. But your explanation seems to fit perfectly with the context.
