I wanted to know if the use of "alike" in this sentece is grammatically correct:

"Regarding the first point, it can be claimed that personal intimacy should be valued alike freedom of speech."

Shouldn`t it be like : Regarding the first point, it can be claimed that personal intimacy and freedom of speech should be valued alike."

yes, it should be like... should be valued like freedom of speech.
... and freedom of speech should be valued alike.
