Hello!

If I write a sentence like this, "They allowed their staff to distribute the leaflets", how can I switch to Passive Voice (if I want to make "the leaflets" the subject of my new sentence?

The leaflets were allowed for distribution/distributing.

Is the sentence above correct? Especially I'm interested in the structure "were allowed for". I searched Longman dictionary and found several structures "allow + for", all of which are in Active Voice and have different meaning from what I have in mind.

Thanks for your help)
The obvious passive is "The distribution of the leaflets was allowed (by 'them')." Your proposal is not good. [OP:] The leaflets were allowed for distribution/distributing.👁 Cross :cross:

It gets very messy to make a correct sentence, passive, with 'leaflets' as subject:

The leaflets, the distribution of which was finally allowed (by the bosses), were handed out (by the staff) the following day.👁 Tick :tick:

Thank you! Does it mean that I can't write a sentence with "the leaflets" as subject?
