Hello
In D.H.Lawrence`s book "The White Peacock" there is a piece of conversation I think is an allusion to a book or to the Holy Book. I have searched it but I can not figure out which, if any,
"Do you feel as if your hands were full of silver?" she asked almost wistfully, mocking.
"Better than that," he replied gently.
Later Alice says: "And am I like a blue-bottle buzzing in your window to keep you company?"
What is it referring to?
Thank you
