Hello,

I don't know if I should use a plural from or a singular form in these sentences.

My doctor prescribed an antibiotic / antibiotics ( a course )
My doctor prescribed a painkiller / painkillers ( a course )
You can use either - the singular would refer to the type of medication, and the plural to the individual tablets you would have to take.

The plural might also refer to two or more different medications, which the singular of course could not.
