apposition

Can anybody suggest a translation and/or explain the word "apposition' here ( think the comma after apposition was probably omitted by mistake but I'm not sure):

7.1.1.4 The Franchisee agrees not to attempt to appropriate all of part of any of the Trademarks, whether directly or indirectly, through any reproduction, ???? imitation or utilisation whatsoever, particularly [not] by filing an application for registration of a Trademark that would constitute a counterfeit or create unfair competition with any of the Trademarks.

It leads me to picture various ways of physically marking it on a document or package: affixing a sticker, stamping, some such thing. I can't think of a good term that covers it, but I'm hoping it's obvious to someone else. For apposition de la marque/marquage, granddictionnaire.com offers the definition Opération par laquelle on pose un signe, une étiquette ou quelque chose du genre sur un objet, dans le but de le distinguer, with "identification" as a translation, but that doesn't seem to fit your sentence very well.

Thanks, Kelly, I think you're on the right track. It's a rental car company so they can put the brand name/trademarks on all kinds of things. Maybe "placement" would work.

Maybe there shouldn't be a comma and it means putting on a trademark/label that imitates the "true" one. ("Imitatory labelling" would be fairly horrible but I can't think of better).

Hi Uncle Bob!

I just found a lot more context in another sponsorship contract I have to translate but I still can't figure out exactly what they mean - maybe something to do with posters or "signboards" at a sports event?:
Does anybody think "posting"/"post" would be okay here?
