Dear all:
What is the exact meaning of "appropriately" in the following passage? It is from the book The East India Company in Persia by Peter Good, p. 133.
The Company promised to take a third of the total, taking advantage of a shortage of silk coming via the Mediterranean, but this plan was met with coldness or outright hostility from the Callendar family. This was presumably due to the huge potential costs involved and the reliance on the Armenians’ expertise in pricing and selling the silk appropriately.
It is somewhat ambiguous for me. Does "appropriately" mean the Company's reliance on the Armenians' expertise was not in a good manner?
Many thanks in advance.
