Hi everyone.

All my Indian customers tend to use the expression "as per" a lot, like "as per our agreement...".

I never knew this phrase before I met them, and my North American ans European customers all seem to prefer "according to...".

I was wondering whether it is a regional thing? Is it common in the English-as-the-first-language world?
It has a lot of "business jargon" overtones.
Per our agreement - You'll read this, but it's jargony too.
As we agreed/discussed - This seems more "human" to me
Barb is correct. I might even add that "as per" has a legalistic ring to it, not very friendly in American usage.
I'd say that it's common enough even outside of the sphere of business jargon. People often say 'as per usual'.

'As per' can take on shades of nuance though depending on the context. I don't think that it always means 'according to'.
Considering all your replies and British influence over India, may I say it's more of a British usage?
It's possible, yes 'depending on context (as noted and as always).
