attire/garb

Both are similar in meanings. Attire I would associate with more formal dress. Garb would also refer to the style of clothing, although not very commonly used. Hope this helps.

A more boring word, such as dress might be used.
Attire and garb could be used to create a rather old-fashioned, literary, or pompous, effect.

Actually, when I hear the word garb I think Renaissance Faire, like mutton...👁 Big Grin :D
