¿Alguien sabe a qué hace referencia "bacon slicer" en este contexto?

The Airone’s 250cc engine was one of the smaller examples of Guzzi’s trademark flat single, and like the other versions incorporated an external ‘bacon slicer’ flywheel.

Do a google image search for "bacon slicer". This will bring up pictures of a tool for cutting meat in the store. The classic look has a circular piece that looks like the flywheel (or the flywheel cover?) on this motorcycle. "Bacon slicer flywheel" is purely a visual description of the flywheel.

I think it's a standard term that lots of people use to describe this particular design (but, yes, it's metaphorical, not literal).
