born here from parents the same

Hello! Again with Whitman:

My tongue, every atom of my blood, form’d from this soil, this air,
Born here of parents born here from parents the same, and their parents the same,
I, now thirty-seven years old in perfect health begin,
Hoping to cease not till death.

I'm pretty sure the meaning is born here from parents that did the same (to be born in that place), but I find strange that he just adds "the same".

I would like to know your native opinion on this matter.

Thank you very much!
Born here of parents born here from parents the same (who were born here of parents born here), and their parents the same (who were born here of parents born here),

I don't see it as strange - a little poetic, maybe, but that is Walt Whitman who was writing a long time ago.

A: "Where were you born?"
B: "I was born in Manchester."
A: "And where were your parents born?"
B: "Manchester."
A: "A: "And where were your grandparents born?"
B: "The same."
