bum out

Hello! I was wondering what the meaning of "bum out" is in the following phrase: "Whether you're frantic about getting fired, bumming out at your 9-5, or working in a doom-and-gloom atmosphere..." This was taken from an article on how to stay positive at work. The source is Cosmopolitan magazine and the author is Leonora Epstein. Thank you!
What is with all of the people giving good context and background this morning? You are awesome.

It means "being sad; tired; bored." Something like that. A 9-5 is a normal office job from 9 in the morning to 5 at night; if you bum out at it then you're sick of working there.
I've always understood "bummed out" to mean "discouraged" or "depressed." A "bummer" is an unfavorable outcome, a discouraging or depressing situation. So I would interpret the progressive verb form "bumming out at" to mean "being depressed by" or "being discouraged by" one's "9-to-5 job." Boredom and fatigue (physical or mental) would go with sadness, which is just another word for depression.
