Sorbion® Sachet (H&R) Sorbion® Sachet Border, absorbent polymers in cellulose matrix, hypoallergenic polypropylene envelope, with adhesive border (for moderately to heavily exuding wounds), 10 cm × 10 cm = £2.95, 15 cm × 15 cm = £4.49, 15 cm × 25 cm = £6.99, 25 cm × 25 cm = £11.99
This is the description of Sorbion wound dressings. Could you please explain the meaning of "matrix" in Cellulose matrix.
The word "matrix" is in the WRF dictionary. If that does not help, there are several posts linked at the bottom of that dictionary page that will help. 👁 Thumbs Up
There are so many definitions so which one is applicable to the question? I would appreciate if you simply explain the sense of the word in the given context.
Thanks
I didn't find the dictionary definitions very helpful in this case, but this link, in its matrix, is a little better.
Think of a wound dressing, and in particular the pad at the centre of the dressing. The pad is the cellulose matrix, and in this case it is impregnated with absorbent polymers that retain fluid within the structure of the cellulose matrix.
In this case "matrix" = structure (usually hollow.) matrix /ˈmeɪtrɪks ˈmæ-/ n ( pl matrices /ˈmeɪtrɪˌsiːz ˈmæ-/, matrixes)
  1. a substance, situation, or environment in which something has its origin, takes form, or is enclosed
