In English we talk about climate change, or global warming, or the greenhouse effect. But I have just read an atricle in which they refer to ... el efecto invernadero.

Why is a 'wintering' effect in Spanish?

What other phrases are there for this issue?
The "invernadero" in efecto invernadero has nothing to do with "winter"... invernadero = greenhouse (as in 'greenhouse effect').

Actually, the correct Spanish term for the greenhouse effect is efecto del invernadero. The most common term to use is the one you wrote. I've also heard efecto de invernadero.

It's because un invernadero is Spanish for a greenhouse!! here
There's also el calentamiento del planeta here

That's right.

In fact, invernar and invernadero both refer to invierno
