Compote

Serbian
Can you tell me if this sentence is correct:

Jim is drinking compote. (he is drinking it from a bottle)

I'm not sure if the noun "compote" needs the indefinite article or it can be considered an uncountable noun, so it would be okay to put it in the sentence without the article.
What do you mean by "compote" in your sentence? The only compotes I'm familiar with can't be drunk from a bottle.
In Russia and Serbia it is drinkable. However, then maybe it's spelled "kompot" instead?
You may need to post a question in the Russian or Other Slavic Languages forum to find out what the beverage is called in English. Then, if necessary, you can come back here to ask whether we would use the indefinite article with it.
