core area

I'm a bit confuse as regards the meaning of core here. If i say that a fitness machine gets right to the core area of your body, what do I mean by core? I assumed it was something like "parte interna" like "interior part" (sort of like the sitimuli go deep into the muscles) but then I found "my abs are getting worked, upper core and lower." So I have to reconsider, I think the core area just means the center of the body. But then again it baffles me when it says "gets to the core". It should simply mean that if works on/affects that part? Anyway is "core area" usually used to describe the midsection? Thanks.
Il corsetto addominale appears to be the Italian version.
Too technical. Do you also think the core area could mean the problem area? like "parte specifica" or something?...This should mean abs: "XXXX is going to work the core of the body...." This here a target area: "XXX gets right to the core area of your body"......I'm puzzled.
The core area refers to the abdominal, lower back, and the pelvic areas. Sit-ups, crunches, scissor lifts, side lifts, swimming, etc. all work the "core area." Running, for example, doesn't target the core area much. This is the area that provides stability for the whole body in a range of activities and sports.

Hi everybody!
I have the same problem with a translation on fitness. Do you think that "regione lombare" would fit? Or simply "addominali"?

Dovresti postare che contiene la tua espressione.
Con una frase intera ci possiamo provare. Intanto regione lombare e addominali sono opposti uno all'altro.

Sorry! la frase intera Γ¨ "Raise both arms above your head to encourage the activation of the muscles in your core. "
Forse i muscoli del tronco/della fascia centrale del corpo (quindi sia addominali che lombari, direi...). Black, che dici? Mi sembra un uso strano di "core", ma forse Γ¨ ignoranza mia.
