cracking quizzes

"Cracking" is an adjective, not a verb. From cracking - WordReference.com Dictionary of English:
  1. Brit informal first-class; excellent: a cracking good match
Do you guys have quizzes on soccer knowledge before playing the game?

Is it me using 'does' instead of 'do' that makes you think that i see 'cracking quizzes' as a gerund instead of a plural noun phrase? I actually do see 'cracking quizzes' as an adj.-n. phrase, but I thought if i put it in quotation marks, it would be like '' What does the phrase 'cracking quizzes' mean?'' So are you saying i should still use 'do' because the noun phrase was plural?

It appears that whoever said this, and you haven't told us who said it, or where, (context), will be holding some quizzes before the football season starts. There is no indication of what the quizzes will be about.

I see... It was a fill-in-the-blank question from my textbook. Sorry I'm really not able to provide any more context. I was guessing if it was a common pratice in the English-speaking world as I never lived there. And I thought I'd just ask if it was the case.

I didn't get this impression at all. I'm not sure why Jack assumed you thought this was a verb.

There is no national quiz event or anything like that. I wouldn't read anything into this if I were you.

I do tend to overgeneralize a lot. Lol. Thanks for your reply <3

It seemed to me to be the obvious source of misunderstanding. We crack codes after all, and we might crack problems. It seemed at least plausible that someone might think we cracked quizzes as well.
