Hi!
I am writing about immigration and the "criminalization of immigrants" how would I say that?

I think that it refers to the attitude of considering all the immigrants as potential criminals and to act severely afterwards, so to say: to treat as a criminal also who is not a criminal but is supposed to be able to become that. (eg: imprisoning immigrants even if they do not have committed a crime). In italian we also say: "criminalizzare" that is a literal transaltion of the english word. Although I understand it perfectly, I have no idea on how to translate it into spanish.👁 Eek! :o
yes, 'criminalization' refers to treating them as if they were criminals (often simply for crossing the border or not having proper documentation) even though they haven't committed a crime.
