I found this on social media. What could be the meaning of 'cut loose' here? Given the context, I assume it might be a colloquial way of saying 'It's not time to do whatever you want just yet', though my dictionary doesn't mention that meaning for 'cut loose'.

This is the correct understanding.
If you are tied down (busy doing something) you can cut the ties and you are free of them. You are loose.
You have cut yourself loose. You can now cut loose - play/ do whatever you want.
