Hi,
I would like to know about the meaning of " DONT YOU DARE GIVE SAMPLES TO HIM"
THANKS A LOT
Hello Farang, and welcome to the forum.
Usually the negative imperative is Don't + bare infinitive -
don't go into the woods, don't touch the pastry, don't walk upon the grass.
But by adding the pronoun
you we make the prohibition more emphatic, and, maybe more personal - it's something a mother might say to her child
- don't you go into the woods, don't you touch the pastry, etc.
I should add that there are some verbs, and
dare is one of them, where the form with
you is more usual than the form without it.
