Disconnected

I was at a meeting.one of my friend called me.my phone rang.quickly I disconnected the phone.
Can I say disconnected for this sentence?
It would sound more natural to say "I turned off my phone". "Disconnected" sounds like it was unplugged, which would be the case with phones that require a physical connection to the telephone network.
Personally, I would say :

I turned off my mobile.

or

I switched off my mobile.
I disconnected only that call.I didn’t switch off the phone.I turned on mute.
Then is it okay to say “I switched off the phone/I turned off the phone “
I wouldn't use "disconnected" in the original example because it commonly refers to an unexpected interruption in a telephone conversation, usually because of a technical problem.

"Did you just hang up on me?"
"No, I got disconnected."
I disconnected only that call.I didn’t switch off the phone.I turned on mute.
Then is it okay to say “I switched off the phone/I turned off the phone “
"I disconnected the call" is fine: Then you put your phone on mute rather than turn it off.
